I currently serve as Senior Pastor of Harvest Church in Knoxville, Tn. I was sent out from Trinity Chapel of Knoxville in 1993 accompanied by my wife Sheila our four children Sarah, Hannah, Josiah & Isaac and a handful of bold, brave and committed believers determined to plant our first church. Pioneering is hard work but well worth the journey. That is why we desire to make disciples of Christ who will, like us, also embrace the call to plant churches.

Stimulation or Transformation Part Three

If righteousness is your goal you will never attain it any other way but by faith.  Galatians 3:11 says plainly that, “the righteous shall live by faith.”

It also states, “no one is justified before God by the law.” VS 12 reveals that, “the law is not of faith.”

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Faith pleases God but those trying to live by the law are under a curse and cannot please God no matter how hard they try because the Law is not of faith.

Think about that.  the Scripture plainly states that the law is not of faith and that it is only by faith that we please God.  This is all the proof we need to know we will never please Him with the Law.

But the New Covenant Gospel declares:

Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us—for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree”—14 so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles, so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.

It is faith in this truth that releases to us the blessing of the promised Spirit.

People struggle when it comes to the Holy Spirit. Understanding this New Covenant Gospel and believing it in simple faith is all that is needed in matters of the Spirit.

The issue is not what I have done to deserve or not deserve the power of the Spirit. It is what Christ did to make it possible.
